M4V ConverterAs Wikipedia indicated, the M4V file format is a video file format developed by Apple and is very close to the MP4 format. The differences are the optional Apple's DRM copy protection, and the treatment of AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio, which is not standardized for the MP4 container. To play a protected M4V file, the computer needs to be authorized (using iTunes) with the account that was used to purchase or rent the video. However, there are unprotected M4V files too.

Here is an article to discuss how to convert the unprotected and DRM protected M4V videos.

TO Convert Unprotected M4V Videos

The easiest way to convert unprotected without AC3 audio may be recognized and played by other video players is to change the file extension from ".m4v" to ".mp4".

Otherwise, software needed, such as Any Video Converter Ultimate for Mac, or Any Video Converter Free for Mac. They both could convert unprotected M4V videos, and could conforming videos to compatible formats with different devices, like PSP, Blackberry, Android, etc. and also capable for merging, cropping and trimming videos, while Ultimate could even burn M4V videos into DVD.

TO Convert DRM protected iTunes M4V Videos

Remove DRMDRM is abbreviated from Digital Rights Management, as its name indicated, it could restrict users from doing something perfectly legal, such as making backup copies of CDs or DVDs, lending materials our through a library.

As for iTunes videos, the purchases and rentals are DRM protected.

It seemed to be complicated to convert DRM protected iTunes M4V movies and TV shows, but it is actually as easy as to convert the unprotected M4V with some software such as Tune4mac iTunes Video Converter Platinum.

step-by-step tutorial of iTunes Video Converter Platinum

With such DRM removal, videos can be converted in 3 steps:

1. Launch the program, iTunes would be automatically opened, hit "Add" button on the top left corner, this will bring up a list of movies in iTunes;

2. Choose the favorite video you want to convert, and press "Profile" to set a format;

3. Click "Convert" button to start the conversion and in few minutes (depends on the size of the video) the video will be DRM free.

android-disguise.pngSometimes I feel as though the world is divided. Some people like iOS, some people like Android. Some prefer Windows Phone, and some use Blackberry. For some reason, the mobile OS we choose sort of became what defines us. If you think about it, I’m sure you have some sort of opinion of iOS users that’s pretty different than what you think of Android users. And if you have a favorite OS, you simply can’t understand why anyone would choose otherwise.

I hereby declare war on this fragmentation! Why can’t we all just get along? Luckily, Android is one mobile OS which can help us do this, with its infinite number of launchers and themes. Today I’m going to help you be politically correct: you’re going to disguise your Android device and turn it into an iOS device, a Windows Phone device, a Blackberry, and some other cool operating systems. It’s really easy, it can look pretty good, and most of all, it’ll be fun to see your friends’ reactions. Just be careful, I know some people who may take such games to heart!

iOS 1: Espier Launcher [Android 2.1+]

If you fancy the iOS look, at least when it comes to icons, folders, the App Switcher tray and search, Espier Launcher is your best bet. Everything but the home screen remains completely Android, naturally, but you can definitely confuse your friends with the iOS look you get with this Launcher. You can create folders exactly as you would on iOS, and Espier even comes with its own App Switcher tray, which looks exactly like iOS. It changes every icon possible to something more iOS-ish, and automatically places the iOS Setting icon on your home screen, which actually leads to your phone’s settings.

If you’re using Android 2.1, download Espier Launcher 2.1. For Android 2.2 and up, download the regular version. Read the full review of Espier Launcher for more details.

Bottom line: Best of both worlds.

iOS 2: Fake iPhone 5 [Android 2.1+]

Fake iPhone 5 and its older sibling Fake iPhone 4S (Android 2.0+) are not as feature-rich as Espier, but when it comes to looks, you won’t get much closer to iOS than this. As opposed to Espier, this launcher automatically changes your wallpaper (you can change it back if you wish), and places every possible icon from iOS 6 on your homescreen. Fortunately, Maps still leads to Google Maps, but beware of icons like “Passbook”, which are nothing but a prompt to download another app. You can’t create folders with Fake iPhone 5, nor is there an App Switcher tray.

Bottom line: Lacks Espier’s features, but makes up for it in looks. Great if you’re main goal is to confuse your friends.

Windows Phone 7: Launcher 7 [Android 2.1]

Don’t care for iOS? Why not turn your Android into a Windows Phone 7? Yes, I know Windows Phone 8 is freshly out, but let’s face it, this isn’t Windows Phone anyway, so 7 will do. Jokes aside, Launcher 7 is a slick and versatile launcher that will make your phone look exactly like a Windows Phone. At least at first glance. When you first launch the app, you’ll get a chance to choose your main tiles. You can always add or remove tiles later on, and even change their size and color. The navigation is entirely Windows Phone 7 as well, although the ads do give away the game. If you want to get rid of them, $1.99 will do the trick.

Bottom line: A lovely option for Windows Phone lovers who just happen to own an Android.

Blackberry: BlackBerry Theme Go LauncherEx [Android 2.0+]

I must admit, I never really used a Blackberry before. This Blackberry theme might be the closest I’ll ever get, but I must say, it’s not half bad. As you’ve probably gathered from the name, this is not a standalone launcher, but a Go Launcher EX theme. In order to use it, you’ll have to first install Go Launcher, then download the Blackberry theme, and last, choose the theme from Go Launcher’s settings.

The Blackberry theme does an all-around icon change, turning them Blackberry style, and replaces the wallpaper with something more Blackberry-appropriate. Normally, I use Go Launcher’s default theme, and the Google Play Store icon sits smack in the middle of my bottom icon row. The theme had a solution for every other icon, but left the Play Store one intact, which created an amusing effect. You can easily change this icon to one of the native ones, though.

Bottom line: If you like the style, you don’t have to like Blackberry.

Windows 7: Windows 7 GO Launcher EX Theme [Android 1.6+]

Yes, you read right. Windows 7, without the Phone. Granted, you have slim chances of fooling anyone into believing your device is actually running Windows 7, but it’s still a cute theme for Windows lovers, and could make a funny prank which will last about 2 seconds. As with the Blackberry theme above, this too is a Go Launcher theme, and you will have to install it first before applying this theme. Once you do, the main changes you’ll see will be to some of the icons and wallpaper (the theme comes with quite a few Windows 7 wallpapers). Here, too, my middle Play Store icon was ignored, and I had to change it manually to the Windows one.

Bottom line: Not the prettiest, but definitely amusing.

Bonus! Jellybean: Holo Launcher [Android 2.2+]

If, like me, you actually like your Android device as it is, but fervently wish you could upgrade to Jellybean or even Ice Cream Sandwich, you’re going to enjoy Holo Launcher. Holo Launcher is pretty much a replica of the ICS/Jellybean homescreen, complete with all the icons and some of the widgets. I was hoping to get the colorful ICS wallpaper as well, but the launcher just used whatever I had set at the moment, and the default ICS wallpaper wasn’t available anywhere. Having said that, Holo Launcher is highly customizable, and can give your older device a brand new look, without sacrificing the Android appearance. If you want to take it even further than the homescreen, read about getting more Jellybean features on your phone.

Bottom line: If you go with the Holo Launcher + Holo Locker combo, you’ll never look back.

Although Google's big event in New York has canceled thanks to hurricane Sandy, we can still follow up the latest news of Android from Google's headquarter in San Francisco. The name Nexus 4 derived from its 4.7-inch screen. And in terms of hardware, it is similar with LG Optimus G that was released in South Korea last month.

Google Nexus 4 inspired from Optimus G, used different industrial design, but still complied with the design criteria of the Nexus series: rounded corners, no brand or any decorative in front panel. Using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro quad-core CPU in-house, but Google has chosen a unique HSPA+ network, global, instead of using a variety of models to be compatible with the global LTE network standard.

Nexus 4

Let's first take a look at the new features of Android 4.2.

The camera application interface is more concise than before, so that users can concentrate on shooting, but still can have quick access to many setup options. And it's easy to delete or view photos after taking a picture.

Another new feature is added which called Photo Sphere, allows us to take 360-degree panorama stitching photos. This is a function like the Microsoft Photsynth, after the picture the camera application will splice photos together in the background; the finished artwork is similar to Google Street View 360-degree photos.

Google Voice Search upgraded, we can now ask questions in the local language. Google search for the answer to that question will crawl on the Internet and using a synthesized voice to answer, the answer is very satisfactory.

Google Now also have finished some improvements, such as "Photo Spot Nearby" feature allows you to view the beautiful photos taken around the location. If you've just come to a strange place, this feature allows you to know where is the most interesting rather than make the trip to regret later. This service also screenings of the movie you can tell when you go to the cinema. The Package Tracking function by crawling Email grasp the user is about to receive the parcel, and give a timely reminder. Flight Status can help you to check flight times and Hotel.

These are the new features of the Android 4.2 system, we can experience them on Nexus 4, and the Nexus 4 also supports wireless charging technology, but do not know whether it is compatible with the Nokia Lumia 920 charger.

With the new Google phone, iTunes videos are still capable. Your purchased and rental videos and movies can all be converted to Nexus 4 by usingTune4mac iTunes Video Converter Platinum.

ITunes is not the only way to get to HD movies, but it is a good and convenient way. With iPhone, iPod, iPad and Mac, videos being purchased or rent could sync from iTunes easily to your devices. However, what if you are using Dell, HP, or Lenovo; what if you want to differ from your friends, and trying to use Galaxy S3 and Blackberry; what if your next dreaming tablets is not iPad, but Surface Pro; what if you want Nexus 4, Lumia 920 over iPhone. Apple wants people to use as many products from them so they created such a platform and videos from their iTunes store being DRM protected. But we are "the gamer, the fashion hunter, the page turner", we always want more than a single brand products. We want things to be easy, convenient, fascinating, and colorful. We want iTunes videos being played on every device.

Remove DRM

Here is a how-to:

1. Download and install Tune4mac iTunes Video Converter Platinum, which could remove DRM from iTunes videos purchases and rentals;

3. Choose the movie you want to be converted, and press "Profile" to set a format. Generally, the best default setting for your movie is the "same as source".

Or else, you can choose a format coordinate with your device, and set parameters under the "Profile Setting" on the right, such as Video Size, Video Codec, Video Bitrate, etc.

On October 29, Microsoft has officially launched the latest version of its mobile operating platform – Windows Phone 8.

Window Phone 8

Windows Phone 8 is a close relative of Windows 8. It's not a development of Windows Phone 7. Technically, Windows Phone 8 will be based on the same kernel as Windows 8: it's not a development of Windows Phone 7 (or even the stunted offspring Windows Phone 7.8). Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 share a lot: a common file system and drivers, as well as security components and media and graphics support. It's as close to Windows 8 Pro as is Windows RT - they are three separate operating systems with a common interface based on the same code. What that means to Windows Phone users is that their smartphone will be able to work with their PC in an unprecedented manner.

Phones to get intelligent, applications are the key. This time, Microsoft has made big efforts on apps. Over 120,000 apps are included, although compare with Android and iOS, it is still far behind, at least main apps are included, and new apps are on the agenda.

Nokia Lumia 920There are only four manufactures would produce phones for Windows Phone 8: Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and Huawei. And three of them have announced their first Windows Phone 8 device, the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, HTC Windows Phone 8X and Windows Phone 8S and the Samsung Galaxy Ativ S. Huawei has also been granted permission by Microsoft to build a Windows Phone 8 handset for launch.

Actually, not all good news when Microsoft released the new platform, at least not all good news for its cooperator, Nokia. Since old Lumia phone cannot upgrade to the new platform 8, which means the former flagship Lumia 900 that released only 3 months ago, is not suitable for Windows Phone 8. Users would complain about it, Nokia would suffer that. And Lumia 900 is half-priced now.

copy itunes from one mac to anotherWith music purchased from the iTunes Store, it’s not always clear what you can or cannot do. This is largely due to the maze of DRM restrictions, and iTunes’ design, which is obviously focused on managing your files in the application rather than in Finder.

One of the things you can do — and as it turns out, quite easily — is copying your iTunes Store purchases from one Mac’s iTunes to another. In fact, we’ll show you four different ways you can pull this off.

Keep in mind that the files copied this way are still DRM-protected. However, you can authorise up to five computers to manage and enjoy your iTunes Store purchases thereon. This can be done manually by entering your Apple ID iniTunes’ Store -> Authorize this Computer.

1. Use iTunes Home Sharing

iTunes comes with a nifty feature called Home Sharing. Once enabled, this broadcasts your iTunes library over your home network, meaning other computers can browse and play the songs on your computer in their respective versions of iTunes.

copy itunes from one mac to another

To enable it, select Home Sharing from the left sidebar within iTunes, and enter your Apple ID. Repeat this process on all computers that are to participate in the Home Sharing, all with the same Apple ID. You can add up to five computers this way.

Once you’re in a home sharing session, you can simply drag and drop songs from one iTunes library to the other, which is what you’ll want to do to copy your purchases between computers.

2. Copy The Files Using External Media

The above might be the easiest way to copy your purchases between computers, but you can transfer your music without relying on any fancy iTunes features. Instead, you can just copy your files using external media like an external hard drive, a flash drive, or a data CD or DVD.

Your iTunes library is located in User > Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music, where your music is usually organised in an artist > album hierarchy. You can also quickly locate a singular song from within iTunes by right-clicking it and selecting Show in Finder.

copy itunes from one computer to another

Copy your purchases to your external media and, after inserting it in the target computer, simply select the whole lot and drag them onto the iTunes application window or icon. This will add all those songs you had selected to that iTunes library.

3. Share The Files Over a Local Network

You may have guessed it. If copying files manually works with a USB flash drive, this same technique works over the network. The truth of the matter is that copying a large amount of files over your home network is likely to be slower than using a flash drive, but it’s less of a hassle to set up.

copy itunes from one computer to another

What makes this worth a separate mention is the great network sharing functionality that comes embedded in your OS X installation.

Shared folders have been available for a very long time, but in recent versions of OS X,AirDrop has been added as an alternative. Every user on a network with AirDrop selected in Finder are able to see one another. Sharing files from one computer to another then becomes as simple as dragging and dropping your files on the other computer’s icon.

4. Use An iOS Device & iTunes

Finally, if you have an iPhone, or other iOS device that’s been synced with your music library, there’s an even simpler way to move your media between different Mac computers. After authorising the other computer with your Apple ID, plug in your iOS device.

copy itunes from one mac to another

A pop-up will appear — pictured above — which you can use to erase and sync your iOS device with that computer (not what you’re looking to do), but also to transfer your purchases. Choosing the latter option will copy your purchases to that Mac, easy as that.

Do you have any other tips up your sleeve? Need help with any of the above? Have your say in the comments section below the article!

By contrast, the biggest difference between the tablets probably should be that, iPad Mini has a relatively luxury price, $329 is much higher than the other $199s. Moreover, iPad mini has a larger screen, also it is thinner and lighter; the front and main cameras are better. In addition, the version equipped with LTE may not have too many users, but if there is such a demand, currently only iPad mini can meet (reportedly the 29th Google conference will also be released Nexus 7 with 3G network, and the 4G network Kindle Fire HD is 8.9 inch).

Which one you would choose to buy? And would you buy the iPad mini?

Tips for Tablet fans: How to keep iTunes M4V videos on iPad mini, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD, and Nook HD?

As we know, iTunes Store takes up a big share of movies and videos download, and the quality from there is always bravo. As for iPad Mini, videos can be sync through iTunes to the tablet, although rental videos are time limited. But how do other tablets to keep iTunes M4V and DRM protected videos? And how does iPad mini to keep rental videos longer, like forever? Software needed, Tune4mac iTunes Video Converter Platinum is a good choice. http://main.makeuseoflimited.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ios6.jpg?6cc8a5When you install iOS 6 on your iPhone or other iOS device, you won’t see any changes to the user interface, but there are a few new apps and several new features under the hood that will make your device a lot more handy to use.

In addition to a new Maps app with turn-by-turn voice navigation, you also get Facebook integration throughout the iOS, the ability to share selected photos in your Photo Stream; preset voicemail replies, FaceTime over your cellular network, and several new handy features for the iOS camera, Mail, Safari, Find My Phone. In fact Apple claims over 200 new features are included in the new update. You can get an overview of them here, but let’s explore some of the best tips for quickly getting up and running with iOS 6.

iOS 6 is fully supported on the iPhone 4S, the third generation iPad, the 4th generation iPod Touch, and the soon to be released iPhone 5. It also supports the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2, but these two devices do not include Siri, FaceTime on 3G or 4G. The iPhone 3GS will support iOS 6, but it will not include several features and apps, including Siri, Photo Streaming sharing, FaceTime on 3G, Offline Reading list, and hearing aid support. You can download and install iOS 6 wirelessly on your device (Settings app > General > Software Update) or via a wired iTunes connection.

Ios6 devices

VoiceMail Replies

After you get  iOS up and running, launch the Settings app and tap open the Phone settings, followed by “Reply with Message.” This handy little feature enables to you send preset messages when someone calls, but you can’t or don’t want to  answer.

Ios6 2

You can of course customize the preset messages; for example: “Sorry, working, will call you later.” When you receive a call, you will need to slide up the phone icon handle to reveal the “Reply with Message” and “Remind Me Later.”  You can choose your options from there.

Photo Stream

Now in Photo Stream you can select photos and share them directly from your supported device. To do this, tap the Photo Stream icon in the bottom menu bar; tap “My Photo Stream” and then the Edit button at the top-right. Select the photos you want to share, and tap the Share button at the bottom.

Hardware software

Tap the Photo Stream button to share your selected photos with other people. When you share with someone who is also running iOS 6 and iCloud, your photos will show up in their Photo Library or iPhoto app, after they approve the import. Those not running iOS 6 will receive a link to your selected photos posted online via your iCloud account. From there, they can download your photos.  You will need to enable Public Website sharing from within Photo Stream. The link to your photo pages can be shared anywhere.

VIPs in Mail

The Mail app in iOS 6 has inherited the VIP feature, first released in Mountain Lion. This feature enables you to select contacts as VIPs, each of whom will get a special smart folder where all their emails will be collected.

To assign a contact VIP status, tap on his or her From address in an email, and then the next window tap “Add to VIP.” Your VIPs will show up under Mailboxes in your Mail app. However, the only drawback is that you will get all the messages sent by a selected contact, not just their new mail.

Insert Photo or Video

Also in Mail, you can now import/insert photos or a video from within a Mail message, instead of having to export selected content from your Photos Library. To add a photo to an email, press down briefly with your index finger on an empty spot in your email, and then left your finger to bring up the pop-up menu bar. From there, tap on the right arrow and select “Insert Photo or Video.” The contents of your Photo library will pop up. You can add one photo or video at a time to your email. It’s probably best not add more than one video to a mail message.

Ios6 19

Do Not Disturb

Though the Notifications feature was a big deal when first released, many iOS users now often find it nuisance when they get too many notices at in appropriate times. In the new update, when you go into the Settings app and turn off notifications completely, or you tap the Notifications > Do Not Disturb, you can schedule a time for when you don’t want to receive calls and alerts.

Furthermore, you can make exceptions for selected contacts in your Contact book, and also allow for Repeated Calls to your phone. This is very useful if you often get calls and alerts while sleeping or in a meeting.

http://main.makeuseoflimited.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/icon1.png?6cc8a5We all know about those songwriters, right? Yeah, they are those people who stand barefoot in coffee shops, playing out-of-tune guitars and singing  songs about wheat in the fields and how life is a simple butterfly. Well, actually, this is definitely not the case. As a matter of fact, this is astereotype, my friend. We shouldn’t take kindly to that, for songwriters are actually known to come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes.

No, the typical songwriter could be anyone, and sometimes, it’s hard for them to showcase their talent. With that said, I believe that one of the strongest ways to increase the quality one’s talent is to let everyone know about it. Unfortunately, not many people can do that for one reason or another. However, I’ve found a few sites to aid you in your songwriting (until you’re ready to share your talent with the world).

The Muse’s Muse

songwriting websites

First off, I’ve linked you to the forum section of this website. I just wanted to get this out of the way, for I believe this is the most important section of this songwriting website. The Muse’s Muse message boards are a great way to connect with fellow songwriters when your community of friends and family has already exhausted what natural talent that they have. Here, you’ll find fresh, new people who are just like you, and additionally, you’ll find a few features that are designed to teach you the basics of songwriting.

Songwriter Universe

Are you simply not hip with the songwriting world of today? Perhaps, you are curious how mainstream music is derived from relatively unknown songwriters. Maybe you are just wondering what makes a great hit. Songwriting Universe is a good publication that shows the business of songwriting in action, and it’s a decent site for those just wanting to scratch the surface to see what it mostly entails.

American Songwriter

American Songwriter is a beautiful blog that simply covers all that entails songwriting. Provided are intriguing articles that even folks such as myself (non-songwriters) can understand. The website is designed to provide tips and opportunities for those members of society that decide to put finger to fret and pen to paper, and it’s a well-visited site to boot. I’d recommend reading American Songwriter to anyone – not just songwriters, to be honest. It’s quite interesting.

No matter what I do, Reddit seems to always pop up in my life. This subreddit is a community of songwriters who are willing to critique, joke around with, and even share techniques. Furthermore, it’s all within the convenience of the typical Reddit viewing-space! (Now you’llnever have to leave.) This a relatively simple songwriting website, but it has quite a bit of content. Additionally, there are a few fair guidelines in place for critique and song submission, and this helps keep everything fair.

Like I said, I myself am not a songwriter, but I’m around them quite a bit. I’d love to relate to them, and for me, these sites may give us something to talk about. For them, these are sites with just good reading material.

Do you know of any other similar sites about songwriting? Have you written any songs on your own?
